Shanklish
Shanklish is a traditional Middle Eastern cheese made from fermented milk, shaped into balls and coated with herbs. With a tangy flavour and crumbly texture, it’s typically served as a meze with olive oil, tomatoes, onions, and lebanese bread.
Ingredients:
1 cup Bekaa Dairy Shanklish, crumbled
2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 garlic clove, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped (optional)
1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
Fennel, sliced thinly for dipping
Instructions:
Prepare the Shanklish: Crumble the Bekaa Dairy Shanklish into a bowl.
Combine ingredients: Add the chopped tomatoes, garlic, and onion (if using) to the bowl with the Shanklish.
Season: Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Mix: Stir everything together until well combined.
Garnish: Top with chopped parsley for added freshness.
Serve: Serve the dip with thinly sliced fennel for dipping, along with warm flatbread or pita.
